Hello from Kognic!
We've been busy this fall! As always, we have released features to make your annotation workflows faster, more intuitive, and more powerful. From the new Split View for better 3D visualization to Videobar 3.0 with consolidated controls, these updates help us deliver on our promise: to get you more data for your budget.
Let's dive into the updates 👇
Split View is a new viewing mode that makes working with 3D scenes more efficient. This update divides your workspace into two panels, allowing you to see more 2D context alongside your 3D scene. Perfect for when you need that extra visual reference while annotating or reviewing.
The update also brings a new left-side toolbar that works seamlessly with both the existing grid view and the new split view. We've simplified the experience by replacing the old grid view shortcut (G) with a new shortcut (V) that lets you cycle through all three view modes effortlessly.
Our Videobar has evolved over the years, and now it’s time for version 3.0. This update consolidates controls and adds new features to make video annotation more intuitive and efficient.
Key Updates:
This update brings together scattered settings into one place, and delivers features you've been requesting. As one of our most-used components, the videobar now offers a more intuitive experience with fewer unexpected behaviors. That’s a win in our book 🚀
We've upgraded our line and polyline simplification feature to make your annotation workflow smoother. Instead of the previous abstract "granularity" scale, you can now directly specify exactly how many points you want in your simplified line.
This makes it faster and easier to simplify complex lines while maintaining their shape. Perfect for your 2D and 3D line and lane annotations!
Note: The slider may occasionally skip certain point counts (like jumping from 17 to 15 points) because our simplification algorithm maintains specific levels of detail to preserve shape accuracy.

There is a new way to track and improve annotator performance: Quality Alignment Metrics. This feature measures how well annotator work aligns with quality standards across four key dimensions: geometry accuracy, property accuracy, precision, and recall.
Team managers and project administrators now have data-driven insights to identify training needs, track improvement over time, and maintain consistent quality standards. Metrics are automatically calculated from judgment edits during the review process, showing exactly where annotators excel and where they need support.

Speed up your annotation workflow with our new copy and paste properties feature! Now you can quickly copy properties from one object and paste them to others. Perfect for repetitive tasks like lane marking annotation.
Three powerful operations:
shift+ctrl+c)ctrl+v)Instead of manually setting properties for each of 10-20 lane markings, simply copy once and paste to all similar objects, saving time and reducing repetitive work.

You can now customize shortcuts for three commonly used 3D line and lane operations: Align node to ground, Align all nodes to ground, and Reverse line direction. This update makes working with 3D lanes and lines faster by letting you create shortcuts that fit your workflow.
