Automatic 2D Tracker

We are excited to announce the launch of the new Automatic 2D Tracking. This assistive feature improves the annotation process for 2D sequences by automatically adjusting the position of various shape types.

Annotating shapes such as Point, Curve, Polygon, MultiPolygon, and Bounding Box becomes much easier. Annotators simply need to locate the object that requires annotation, draw the desired shape, and enable assistive tracking. As they move forward to the next frame, the shape automatically adjusts itself, ensuring accurate annotations throughout the sequence.

The effectiveness of Automatic 2D Tracking stems from its utilization of dense optical flow for pixel tracking and the Segment Anything Model (SAM) for shape refinement. This results in significant time and effort savings for annotators.

Enabling or disabling the 2D shape tracking feature is straightforward. Annotators can either click on the dedicated button located in the app's left panel or use the keyboard shortcut alt+q.

While the Automatic 2D Tracking feature simplifies the annotation workflow, we acknowledge that certain objects may present challenges for assistive tracking. In such instances, users can rely on the standard annotation workflow for sequences to guarantee accurate results.

This update is a testament to our commitment to assisting annotators in automating time-consuming tasks. We believe in providing co-pilot-like automation features that accelerate annotations, consequently reducing overall project costs.

Automatic 2D Tracking is automatically enabled for preprocessed 2D sequence inputs that include at least one of the supported shape types in the Training Data (TD). Our team is fully prepared to provide any necessary preprocessing assistance to ensure a seamless experience.

Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to innovate and enhance the annotation experience. For additional information regarding Automatic 2D Tracking and our comprehensive range of solutions, please visit our documentation or get in touch with our team for more information.
